Yeah we asked the exact same question to our provider.. it is not normal that you experience HDD crashes so often. Anyways, we've been upgraded to a new server. Let's see how that goes.

Thanks for the support and trust in us, it's really much appreciated. As mark already said, we always feel bad when this happens, feels like we let our fans down. It's good to know that there are people here that like our service so much that they stick around, through good and bad times :)

Get a RAID 1 in that server with server disks (the ones that were meant to be under load 24/7). ;) with 2 crashes already you wouldnt want a third now do you. :p

:P we'll have a discussion on the 2nd of April. One solution is to buy a server, configure it with RAID 1 and colocate it somewhere. But that is usually more expensive. Also because we want at least 2000 GB of traffic per month. And with colocating, you have to have some spare parts if anything breaks down.

I know that, but loosing customers costs more than loosing some money which you can earn back probably. :p

Let the free users have way less privilege's so they will buy an account eventually. More money means a better & stable server !

I don't think cutting back on features for free users will end up them taking a subscription.
The only way is to move forward, not backwards. Think features like embedding mixes in Facebook like Soundcloud) and "share this" buttons on the mixpages to Tweet on Twitter, put on your Facebook wall and stuff..

I think you are right, if people can't use our services they will go elsewhere on the internet. It's like a big torrent website, if one shuts down, 10 others pop up and they forget about the other website.

Embedding mixtapes on a website is a nice feature and i'm very jealous of the Soundcloud player, however, you need a dedicated team which develops that kind of apps. We can add those share buttons though and we are looking into that feature. However, we want to develop that ourselves instead of using a third-party-service.

We've learned our lesson about being dependent on others, we're moving towards running everything ourselves more and more!
